Terms of Service
Last updated: June 15, 2026
1. About Get In and these terms
Get In operates an online peer-to-peer marketplace that connects vehicle owners ("Hosts") with people who want to rent their vehicles ("Renters"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Get In ("we", "us", "our") and govern your access to and use of our websites, mobile experiences, and related services (together, the "Services"). By creating an account, listing a vehicle, booking a trip, or otherwise using the Services, you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy, and — if you list a vehicle — the Host Agreement.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 21 years old (or the minimum rental age applicable in your jurisdiction) and hold a valid driver's licence to book a vehicle.
- You must provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity on your account and for keeping your credentials confidential.
- You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their authority, and you may not maintain more than one active account.
- We may refuse, suspend, or terminate any account at our discretion, including where we believe doing so is necessary to protect the community or comply with law.
3. Our role as a marketplace
Get In is not a rental car company. We do not own, rent, sell, resell, furnish, provide, manage, or control any vehicles. Each booking is a contract directly between the Host and the Renter. We provide the platform that enables these transactions, processes payments, and offers optional protection products, but we are not a party to the rental contract itself except where expressly stated.
4. Bookings, payments and deposits
- Pricing. The price shown at checkout includes the rental rate set by the Host, our service fee, applicable taxes, and any protection, delivery, or refundable deposit charges.
- Authorisation and capture. When you confirm a booking, we authorise your payment method for the full amount and capture funds at or near trip start. Refundable security deposits are held as a separate authorisation or charge and released after the trip, less any approved claim.
- Payouts. Host earnings are transferred via our payments partner after trip completion, subject to our payout schedule and any holds for active disputes or claims.
- Taxes. Hosts are responsible for determining and remitting any taxes their listings generate, except where we are required by law to collect and remit on their behalf.
- Currency and processing. All charges are processed in the displayed currency by our regulated payments partner. Your card issuer may apply additional fees or conversion charges.
5. Host responsibilities
- You must legally own the vehicle or have explicit authority to rent it out and ensure that doing so does not breach any finance, lease, or insurance agreement.
- The vehicle must be roadworthy, registered, insured to at least the minimum legally required level for personal use, and meet all applicable inspection and safety requirements.
- Listings must be accurate. Photos, descriptions, mileage limits, location, and availability must reflect the actual vehicle.
- You must provide a clean, fuelled (or charged) vehicle at the agreed pickup time, with all keys, documents, and equipment legally required to drive it.
- You must respond to renters promptly and cooperate with any claim, investigation, or law-enforcement request.
Full obligations are set out in the Host Agreement.
6. Renter responsibilities
- You will only drive the vehicle yourself, or share driving with an additional driver who has been approved through the platform.
- You will obey all traffic laws, parking rules, toll obligations, and the Host's listed rules (mileage limits, smoking, pets, geographic restrictions).
- You will return the vehicle on time, at the agreed location, in the condition you received it (allowing for normal wear), and with the same fuel or charge level.
- You are responsible for any tickets, tolls, fines, impound fees, and administrative charges incurred during your trip, plus a reasonable handling fee.
- You must report any incident, accident, or damage immediately via the app and cooperate with any investigation.
7. Damage, claims and protection
Get In offers optional protection products that may reimburse Hosts for eligible physical damage and provide limited liability cover, subject to the terms, exclusions, deductibles, and limits described in the protection plan you select at checkout. Protection is not insurance unless expressly stated and is not a substitute for the personal motor insurance each Host is required to maintain. Claims must be opened within the time window stated in the plan and supported by evidence (photos, police reports, repair estimates). We make claim determinations in our reasonable discretion; disputed amounts may be charged to or withheld from either party in accordance with these Terms.
8. Identity and background screening
To protect the community, we verify identity documents and may run driving-record and criminal-background checks through regulated third-party providers (including, where applicable, consumer-reporting agencies subject to the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act). By using the Services you authorise these checks and the use of their results to decide whether you may book, host, or continue using the platform. You may request disclosure of the report and dispute inaccuracies as provided by law.
9. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation windows, refund amounts, and host-cancellation consequences are set out in our Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
10. Prohibited conduct
You agree to comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. Without limiting it, you must not use the Services for any illegal activity, to harass other members, to scrape or copy listings, to bypass our payment system, or to operate a competing rental business off-platform using contacts made through Get In.
11. Your content and licence
You retain ownership of the content you post (listings, photos, reviews, messages). You grant Get In a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, and use that content for the purpose of operating, marketing, and improving the Services. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence and that your content does not infringe any third-party rights.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Services at any time where you breach these Terms, present a risk to the community, or where required by law. You may close your account at any time, subject to completing open bookings and claims. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, content licence, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution) survive.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or course of dealing. We do not warrant the condition, legality, safety, or suitability of any vehicle.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Get In and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to Get In in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Get In and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (i) your use of the Services, (ii) your breach of these Terms, (iii) your violation of any law or third-party right, or (iv) any vehicle you list or book.
15. Disputes, governing law and arbitration
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Get In is incorporated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Most disputes can be resolved by contacting support. Where they cannot, you and Get In agree to resolve any dispute exclusively through binding individual arbitration and not in a class, collective, or representative proceeding, except where prohibited by law. Either party may bring a claim in small-claims court for qualifying disputes. Renters and Hosts in the EU and UK retain any non-waivable consumer rights to bring proceedings in their local courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app at least 30 days before they take effect (or sooner where required by law). Continued use of the Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
